Jessica Walmsley
Operations ManagerMy passion for supporting others started when I was just 16 years old, beginning my career in aged care and completing my Certificate III in Aged Care Since then, I’ve built my career across the community services, mental health and disability sectors, working in roles including Disability Support Worker, Mental Health Support Worker, Intake Officer, Team Leader and District Manager.
I hold a Diploma of Community Services and Mental Health First Aid. Having worked my way from frontline support into leadership, I’ve been fortunate to experience the sector from many different perspectives. This has shaped the way I lead and given me a strong understanding of what quality, person-centred support should look and feel like for participants, families and the teams providing that support.
For me, it all comes back to people. I’m passionate about building genuine rapport and relationships with participants, families, stakeholders and staff. I believe people perform at their best when they feel valued, supported and comfortable enough to be themselves. My leadership style is very much about being approachable, communicating openly, recognising people’s strengths and creating a positive team culture while still maintaining professionalism, accountability and high standards.
I’ve always believed you can be professional without taking yourself too seriously. I love having a laugh, bringing some fun into the workplace and creating a culture where people genuinely enjoy being part of the team. At the same time, I’m passionate about developing others, encouraging growth and making sure the people we support remain at the centre of every decision we make.
