Matthew Casey is the Founder and Director of Flourishing Lives Disability Services, bringing together a passion for people, strong organisational leadership and a belief that disability services should always remain deeply human.

Matthew began developing Flourishing Lives in 2023 with a clear vision: to create a disability support organisation where people feel genuinely known, heard and valued. What started as an idea around his grandparents' dining room table has since grown into an organisation supporting people across the Hunter and surrounding communities.

As Director, Matthew is actively involved in the strategic direction, governance and continued development of Flourishing Lives. He has a particular passion for quality and safeguarding, workforce culture, policy and procedure development, organisational improvement and creating innovative models of support that promote greater choice, independence and meaningful participation for people with disability.

Matthew believes that growth should never come at the expense of connection. As Flourishing Lives has grown, he has remained committed to preserving the organisation's personal approach — ensuring participants have a voice in the services they receive and employees feel supported, respected and empowered in the work they do.

His leadership philosophy is strongly influenced by his family, particularly his nanna, whose compassion, integrity, kindness and unwavering belief in fairness inspired many of the values on which Flourishing Lives was built. The chrysanthemum at the centre of the Flourishing Lives identity is a tribute to her and serves as an ongoing reminder of the heart behind the organisation.

Matthew is also passionate about challenging the idea that compliance and person-centred support are competing priorities. He believes strong governance, transparency and accountability are fundamental to delivering exceptional human services — and that organisations should continually reflect, learn and improve rather than simply aim to meet minimum standards.

Above all, Matthew is incredibly proud of the people who have helped shape Flourishing Lives. He believes the organisation's greatest achievements aren't measured by its size, but by the individual moments that matter — when someone finds greater independence, feels safe, achieves a goal, builds meaningful relationships or simply feels that their voice has been heard.

For Matthew, Flourishing Lives is more than a business. It is a commitment to building an organisation that cares deeply, acts with integrity and helps people flourish in whatever way that means to them.
